3rd Grade Museum Program

3rd GRADERS GET AN OPPORTUNITY TO TOUR THE TRACY HISTORICAL MUSEUM

Mondays, during the school year, our 3rd grade students and their teachers get to
learn about and participate in some 1890’s activities.

Quilting on a quilt that will remain a part of the museum, and when completed, will
become a part of the community quilt exhibit.
Writing in a journal with a quill pen and ink, just as was done in the 1850s.
Making designs on a tin disk with a hammer and nail. This will be taken home and
may be used as a light catcher or allowed to swing in the wind.
Tour of the museum.
The class will reconvene as a group and tour the printing room and make butter
before the class leaves the museum.

As they work through these hands on activities in small groups of 8 or less, the
students get a glimpse of life from the 1890’s.
