Third Grade Educational Programs

The Tracy Historical Museum provides two programs to enhance the California history curriculum for third grade
students to learn about their local history; Third Grade Educational Tours at the museum and an 1876 day at  the
    historic Lammersville School.

In September, teachers sign up to reserve a spot for their third grade classes for an educational tour at the Tracy
Historic Museum.  Visiting classes of third graders come to the museum on Monday mornings during the school
year.  When they arrive at the museum, each class is divided into four small groups to tour the museum and learn
about local history.  Volunteer docents assist each group of students as they view the museum exhibits and try their
hand at quilting, script writing, tin punching and making butter.

The 1876 Lammersville School was saved by members of the West Side Pioneer Association and moved into the
City of Tracy on February 1, 2001.  In moving the school building into the city to its current location in Clyde Bland
Park, located at 1753 Blandford Lane, the building became property of the City of Tracy.  The West Side Pioneers
operate a program for third grade students to experience what a school day was like for children in 1876.
