The Historic Landmark Committee, a sub-committee of the West Side Pioneer Association, is a group of volunteers
dedicated to preserving Tracy’s historic buildings and homes.

The goals of the Historic Landmark Committee are:
    •        To promote preservation and restoration of Tracy’s historic landmarks
    •        To promote understanding of Tracy history
    •        To recognize individuals for their contributions to historic preservation in Tracy

Formed in the fall of 2002, the committee grew out of a group of people who joined together
to save Tracy’s historic water towers.  The group publicized the plight of Tracy’s historic
water towers and explored different ways of financing their preservation.

The Historic Landmark Committee was involved in the efforts to preserve the West building at Tracy High School.

Currently the Historic Landmark Committee is promoting the development of city guidelines for the preservation and
renovation of the historic downtown district.

We hope to place a marker at the site of the old town of Ellis and to promote official recognition of this site by the City of
Tracy.  (Possibly insert a map showing the locations of both Ellis and Tracy)

What kind of people are members of the Historic Landmark Committee?
    •        People who enjoy Tracy’s small town atmosphere.
    •        People who are interested in local history.
    •        People who would like to see our historic buildings and sites preserved for future generations.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to have you join us.
